To provide formal and quality education to inmates and juveniles with little or no educational background in prisons and correctional facilities across Nigeria, using adequate facilities to prepare them for professional life and active contribution to nation-building upon their release.
To have a country where ex-convicts can be re-integrated into the society and educational system through academic prowess. To liaise with like-minded organizations towards the provision of tutorials, books, audio and visual learning aids to empower them with the basic knowledge required to launch them on a path to acquire an advanced diploma or university degree. Adequate education would contribute to the reduction of the stigmatization, victimization, suffering, feeling of hopelessness, segregation, and temptation to revert to crime after release from prison.
How We Started
The INMATES EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION idea was birthed in 2017, and the concept was later developed, fully registered, and started operations in 2018.
It was initiated to serve as a platform for rehabilitation, reformation, and liberation project for inmates in all correctional centres across the nation.
Statistics have shown that 85% of inmates in our correctional centres had no access to quality education before conviction. Unfortunately, many leave these correctional centres without any educational empowerment to fall back on upon their release. They are left with an unliberated mind and no plans towards supporting the development of the country.
We saw an open link of deprived and vulnerable citizens, and the need for to support the goal of the United Nations and UNESCO by 2030 on Quality Education (Goal 4) and education for all. It is why we established INMATES EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION as a way to support inmates, especially in terms of literacy, adult education, higher and tertiary education in all correctional centres across the nation.
Our Proposed Plan
To influence and expose inmates in correctional homes across the nation to the need for education for all, and become a household name in rehabilitation, reformation, and liberation of incarcerated ones, both nationally and internationally.
