ABOUT US
Inmates Educational Foundation (IEF) is a non-profit organization that advocates the rehabilitation, reformation, and liberation of inmates across correctional centers in Nigeria through quality education.
For underprivileged youth growing up in complex circumstances impacted by poverty, conflict, lack of resources, inadequate opportunities to pursue education, and incessant unemployment in the country, many youths turn to other heinous activities that ultimately end in incarceration. According to our survey, 7 out of 10 inmates in Nigerian correctional centres are either drop-outs or did not have access to education at all. Hence, to break this cycle, Inmates Educational Foundation was established in 2018 with the sole aim of providing inmates and juveniles in correctional centres with literacy, adult, and advanced education.
Over the years, IEF has educated inmates and juveniles at Lagos and Ebonyi correctional centers with literacy, numeracy life skills, and advanced education. The organization has provided External Senior Certificate Examination to over 1,500 inmates and subsequently enrolled inmates that wish to further higher education at the National Open University (NOUN) whilst consistently motivating them towards greatness.
